Clear is Kind:

By booking your session with KindBody Movement, you are agreeing to these Practice Policies. Please actually read them.

NEW CLIENTS:

New clients must schedule their first appointment online, complete the intake form, and provide a valid credit card number. They should review the parking directions linked on the scheduling page and included in the confirmation and reminder emails prior to their scheduled appointment time. Parking directions can also be found here.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Last minute schedule changes greatly affect my small business. All sessions are subject to a 48 hour cancellation window. Sessions cancelled between 48 and 24 hours prior to session start time are subject to a $50 late cancellation fee. Any sessions cancelled within 24 hours of session start time will be subject to a 100% charge.

LATE POLICY:

Generally speaking, sessions begin and end on time. If a client is late, the session will end on time. If the therapist is running late, she may extend the session length after discussing it with the client. Clients who are late because they failed to park in the correct place will not receive extra time.

IN THE EVENT OF ILLNESS:

Sick clients should not arrive for their scheduled appointment without prior approval from me. If you are or have been feeling under the weather, please reach out to me as soon as possible so we can determine the best course of action together. Massage is contraindicated when certain symptoms are present. Depending on the situation, late cancellations due to illness may still incur a cancellation fee.

REFUND POLICY:

Clients have the opportunity to prepay for their session at the time of booking. In the event of a schedule change, clients are encouraged to reschedule prepaid sessions as opposed to cancelling them outright. In the event a client chooses to cancel a prepaid session, they will incur a $10 administrative fee to cover the double charge of credit card processing fees. Absolutely zero refunds will be issued for services rendered.

PARKING:

Parking is only available in the lot behind the building. Clients may not park in the driveway or on the street in front of the building. These areas are used for clients of other practitioners. Directions to the parking lot are located on the scheduling page of this website, here, and in multiple emails sent to the client for confirmation and reminder purposes. Clients who park anywhere besides the lot in the back of the building will be asked to move. Clients whose sessions begin late because of parking issues will not receive extra time.

CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

In order to get the most out of each session, clients are responsible for reading all communication regarding their appointment. Clients receive multiple communications regarding their appointment time, including a confirmation email when the appointment is first booked, followed by three reminder emails (72 hours before, 24 hours before, and 1 hour before), and one text message reminder the day before their appointment. It is the client's responsibility to provide a reliable email address and phone number at which to receive these communications and to verify that the appointment details they have recorded in their own calendar match the details listed in these communications.

DEEP TISSUE vs DEEP PRESSURE:

Deep Tissue is a technique and not an indicator of pressure. Effective deep tissue work is slow, focused, and methodical. The therapist works with the body’s nervous system to melt superficial layers before moving into deeper layers of tissue. Working too quickly or with too much pressure too fast becomes counterproductive to the goals of deep tissue massage.

In order to promote longevity in practice for the therapist and safety for the client, the therapist does not accept requests for more pressure — only less. More pressure is not always therapeutic and continual requests for deeper pressure put undue strain on the therapist. The therapist works at a depth that respects the body on the table, progressing to deeper layers only as the body softens.

Clients are responsible for notifying the therapist if the pressure level feels unwell to them. Pain is not required for healing.

SCOPE OF PRACTICE:

Massage is not a substitute for medical treatments. None of the suggestions that will be offered are intended to replace any medical recommendations made by your medical providers. Massage therapists do not diagnose conditions and are not qualified to diagnose conditions. The practices offered are intended to be used as a complement to other modalities, including medical treatment.

All sessions are strictly non-sexual in nature, and are provided within the parameters of Tennessee state law. Any inappropriate behavior will result in termination of the session, and is subject to full charge, at the discretion of the therapist.
